Tom Greenhalf
Tom graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2008 and worked as a Jazz pianist in Birmingham before joining the Army in 2011, subsequently being posted to the Band of the Grenadier Guards as a Clarinettist. After an exciting 9 years with the band, including performances at the 2012 London Olympics, Spruce Meadows in Calgary and the Queen’s Birthday Parade annually, Tom was assigned to British Army Band Sandhurst in 2020. He was then assigned in 2022 to the Royal Military School of Music, designing and running online training courses. He was successful in gaining a place on the British Army Bandmaster Course in 2024, and will graduate in summer 2026.
Tom was appointed the Musical Director of Bourne Concert Band in May 2019 and has conducted many enjoyable concerts with the band.
A New Chapter for Bourne Concert Band
After many wonderful years at the helm of Bourne Concert Band, Tom Greenhalf will be stepping down as our conductor. Tom's final concert with the band will be our Afternoon Tea Concert on Saturday 6th September — we do hope as many of you as possible can join us to celebrate his time with BCB and send him off in style.
Tom has been a huge part of the band's story, and we're enormously grateful for his dedication, musicianship, and the sound he's helped shape over the years. We know members and audiences alike will want to give him a proper send-off.
Looking ahead, we're thrilled to announce that Emily Wilson will be taking over as Musical Director. She'll be taking her first rehearsal as MD on Tuesday 8th September, and we can't wait to begin this new chapter with her.

Emily Wilson
Emily started playing Cornet at the age of 8 in the Forest of Dean and grew up playing in local brass bands and youth groups, including the National Children’s and Youth Brass Bands of Great Britain, and the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Great Britain where she was Principal Trumpet. At the age of 16 she was awarded a music scholarship to study at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset, where she took up playing the Trumpet. Having had a very successful two years at Wells Cathedral School, completing the DipABRSM, Emily earned scholarships at the Royal College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music.
Emily joined the Honourable Artillery Company Reserve Band in 2015 whilst undertaking her degree at the Royal College of Music. She graduated in 2017 with a First class Honours degree in Trumpet performance and in April 2020, transferred to Regular Army service and became the Principal Cornet player of British Army Band Tidworth. In 2023, Emily was posted to The Band of The Prince of Wales as Principal Trumpet where she has explored an interest in conducting, and has since been accepted onto the British Army’s Bandmaster Course 2026-28, coming top of the selection process.
